Ash,
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm going to need to read "Orlando." You are not the only person that I have heard speak highly of it. I'm not sure I'm convinced that I need to put "The Things They Carried" on my canon yet, but your argument in class was very convincing. Ann Page has suggested "The Divine Comedy," and I know that Jessy is pretty supportive of "Catcher int he Rye." It's so hard to make a choice!
So, I am questioning "The Alchemist." It is a fabulous book, and I enjoy Paulo Coelho's writing style immensely. However, I don't know if this book has something that really makes you go "wow." It seems like a pretty typical physical adventure story and has a nice element of inner-travels and exploration as well, of course. But what do you think makes it stand out from the rest of the books about finding your inner-self/inner-spirit?
